A small picturesque village in Galicia. Swanilda is engaged to Franz and plans to marry during the festival. She becomes unhappy with Franz because he seems to be paying more attention to a girl named Coppelia who sits on Dr. Coppelius’s (a toymaker) balcony. Swanilda and her friends decide to go inside Dr. Coppelius’s house. She finds out that Coppelia is a toy. Swanilda dresses up in Coppelia’s clothes. Fortunately, the story ends up in Franz and Swanilda's marriage and the entire town celebration.
