This truly unique theatre can be called the eighth wonder of the world; it is surmounted with the Blue Bird, bird of happiness on a golden harp that has turned into a symbol of the theater.
The theater is situated in a public green space and it has a large parking area.
Peculiar is this theater… Wide halls with sofas, laced bridges over the foyer from where children greet the heroes of their beloved fairy-tales… What funny door-handles! They have a shape of a violin clef… A melodic bell that differs from a usual one… Caring, affable tutors welcoming the audience…
Go up the marble staircase to the rotunda, the bird aviary. There is lots of light, and the blue sky is visible from transparent windows.
In the upper foyer there is a large hall with Lel’s sculptures, who is playing reed-pipe, Boyan, plucking the gusli and Orpheus with the kithara. Nearby there is an inimitable “gigantic Palekhskaya casket” —you will not find a similar man-height panel in the whole world.
Here every detail is designed for children; the mail box on a tree stem, under which there is a bronze bear cub, a buffet in winter garden, a room for younger brothers and sisters. Children, unable to watch a long play to the end, can play with the theatre tutors, listen to fairy tales and even take part in the orchestra of musical toys. Nothing is broken or battered here. Children treat their theatre with care.
There are two halls in the Children’s Philharmonic Theatre: the large with 1100 seats and three scenes — one main and two lateral ones with fantastic theatrical curtain ornate with Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Sadko” motives, and the small — a concert hall with 300 seats.
The atmosphere at the Theater is impregnated with trust in tremendous power of art, and with restless desire for the noblest of all arts, for Music… And how lovely it is for people to meet the world of a theatre and music in their early childhood! This can influence and shape one’s moral for life.
